If you haven’t yet reserved your free copy of Windows 10, don’t worry. You have until this time next year to take the plunge and upgrade. Before July 29, 2016 it will be yours free, forever. After that date (or if you aren’t eligible for the upgrade) the cost will be $119 for Windows 10 Home and $199 for Windows 10 Pro.
If you have already reserved, you should receive a notification sometime today, July 29 notifying you that your copy of Windows 10 is ready for download. Download times can vary due to the age of your system, the quality of your internet connection, and other factors. Windows is saying the full download and upgrade should take about an hour, but beta testing by our technicians would suggest that this might be an optimistic figure, especially for those of you who live out in the country and use satellite internet.
The installation process is mostly automated and should pose no problem for even the most novice computer user. If there are any issues, don’t worry. Microsoft will allow you to reinstall Windows 10 Windows 10 comes with a Get Started App that will help you navigate the new operating system and its features. There will also be a Contact Support App, enabling you to quickly get help.
